1. Purpose
This policy establishes the standards of academic integrity and outlines the
procedures for addressing academic misconduct. It aims to promote honesty,
fairness, and responsibility within the learning environment.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all students, faculty, and staff engaged in academic activities, assessments, and scholarly work within the institution.
3. Principles of Academic Integrity
All members of the academic community are expected to uphold the following principles:
Honesty: Presenting one’s own work truthfully and acknowledging the
contributions of others.
Fairness: Ensuring equal opportunity and following institutional guidelines.
Respect: Valuing the work and ideas of others.
Responsibility: Taking ownership of one’s actions and adhering to academic
expectations.
Trust: Building a culture where integrity is the foundation of all academic
activities.
4. Academic Misconduct
Academic misconduct includes, but is not limited to:
Plagiarism: Using another person’s work, ideas, or words without proper
acknowledgment.
Cheating: Using unauthorized materials or assistance during assessments.
Fabrication: Falsifying data, results, or information.
Collusion: Unauthorized collaboration on assignments meant to be completed
individually.
Impersonation: Assuming the identity of another person for academic
purposes.
Facilitation: Assisting others in committing academic misconduct.
5. Reporting and Investigation
Suspected cases of academic misconduct must be reported to the Academic Office.
Reports will be reviewed, and investigations will follow established institutional
procedures to ensure fairness and due process.
6. Consequences
Penalties for academic misconduct may include warnings, grade penalties,
assignment resubmission, suspension, or dismissal, depending on the severity of
the violation.
7. Appeals
Students have the right to appeal decisions related to academic misconduct.
Appeals must be submitted in writing within the 3 days and will be reviewed by the
designated appeals committee (AEB).
8. Review of Policy
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its relevance and alignment with institutional and regulatory requirements.
