1. Purpose

This policy establishes the standards and procedures for monitoring student academic progression and determining eligibility for graduation. It ensures that students advance through their programmes in a structured, fair, and consistent manner while meeting all academic and administrative requirements.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all students enrolled in certificate, diploma, and higher-level programmes offered by the institution, including full-time, part-time, and modular students.

3. Guiding Principles

  • Student progression must be based on demonstrated achievement of learning outcomes and fulfilment of assessment requirements.
  • Academic decisions must be fair, transparent, timely, and aligned with institutional and regulatory standards.
  • Students should receive timely support and intervention when academic risks are identified.
  • Graduation requirements must be clearly communicated and consistently applied across all programmes.

4. Student Progression

  • Students must meet the minimum passing criteria for all modules as stipulated in their programme requirements.
  • Academic standing is reviewed at the end of each term/assessment cycle.
  • Students who fail modules will be required to undergo reassessment, retake modules, or receive academic counselling.
  • Students placed on academic warning or probation will receive structured support and monitoring to improve performance.
  • Progression to the next stage/level of a programme is subject to meeting all prerequisite requirements.

5. Academic Support and Intervention

  • The institution shall implement early-warning systems to identify students at risk of academic difficulty.
  • Support measures may include academic advising, remedial classes, consultations, attendance monitoring, or learning skills workshops.
  • Intervention plans must be documented and communicated to students clearly.

6. Graduation Requirements

To graduate, students must:
  1. Successfully complete all required modules and assessments specified in the programme structure.
  2. Achieve the minimum cumulative academic requirements (e.g., overall pass).
  3. Fulfill programme-specific requirements such as internships, projects, or practical components if any.
  4. Satisfy all financial, administrative, and attendance requirements
  5. Be approved by the Academic and Exams Board.

7. Appeals

Students may appeal progression or graduation decisions based on valid grounds,such as assessment irregularities or procedural errors. Appeals must be submitted within 3 days and will be reviewed by the Academic and Exams Board

8. Documentation and Record Keeping

All progression reviews, intervention actions, academic decisions, and graduation approvals must be documented accurately and retained according to institutional policies.
